The
house is situated in the part of Port Leucate, which is specially
reserved for nudists. It's a large area between the oyster farmers and
the northern bank of the entrance to the leisure port - a
kilometer-long sandy beach. Within this area there are several estates,
called "villages naturistes" (naturist villages). One of the estates
possesses a naturist yachting port. Our "village" is called Eden Plage.
Our house is furnished to suit 4-5 people. On the ground floor there is
a main area, a so-called cabin and a bath. This main area has a fully
equipped kitchen (with fridge/freezer, a cooker and a combination oven
with microwave, grill and convection oven), a dining table and a
living area with sofa and a small stereo equipment with a CD player.
The cabin acts as a small sleeping room with two storey bed
without a window. The bathroom has a WC, shower and wash basin.
Stairs lead on the mezzanine, an open upper floor. Here there is a
double bed, a large built-in cupboard and a single bed for one further
person.
As you can see in the pictures: the house is not very large. The
ground floor is about 20 m² in surface area, the mezzanine a good
10
m², but not full height all over. There is a nice 15 m²
terrace with
some plants. For a great holiday at the beach everything can be
found!
It has been well reconditioned, equipped and is inexpensive.
Most of the owners and tenants of Eden Plage are French families. They
are very nice and enjoy an unencumbered beach vacation. They have
good
spirits, and it's not unusual to have little feasts together.
Eden Plage is situated directly on the beach. From the house to
the
beach it's not even 50 meters. The beach itself is a nudist beach. Eden
Plage is a "mixed" estate, you can thus run around naked within it's
area, but you don't have to. But please do not feel uncomfortable to be
surrounded by naked people. At the south part of the same beach there
are a few estates, where nakedness is in effect obligatory, where
people are less relaxed about the matter. If you have pubescent
children which have problems with being naked, Eden Plage would be
suitable. There is a normal "clothed" beach a small distance away
(if
you cross the bridge by the oyster farmers).
At the end of the channel by the oyster farmers, a few 100 m
away,
starts the “Etang of Leucate”, a wide interior lake with good winds
quite often. It is a European-wide well known surfer’s
paradise.
Port Leucate itself is about 4 km away. There you'll find a shopping
center with numerous small shops, restaurants and a Lidl for bargain
shopping. Leucate Village, the old village, at 5 km, likewise has some
small
shops and at the entrance of the village is a further small shopping
center.
There are many sites to visit not many kilometers away, such as the
famous castles of the Cathars, medieval towns and villages, churches
and monasteries of the romanic period, and there are also beautiful
landscapes and the wild canyons of the Corbières. Perpignan is
only 25
km away, Narbonne 45km and Carcassonne about 90km. There are quiet
narrow roads around Leucate to walk around, particularly the
plateau
on the cliffs around the lighthouse which is pictorial.
How to get there: By car: Leucate has its own
motorway connection to the A9, the motorway direction to Spain.
Eden-Plage has it's own parking lots. The holiday village is secured by
an automatic gate.
By train: La Franqui, a part of Leucate, has a train station. The TGV
(high-speed train) stops at Narbonne. From Narbonne to La Franqui it's
approx.. 40 km by a local train. There is a shuttle between all parts
of Leucate and to Barcarès. We have a busline from
Barcarès to Perpignan and one from Leucate to Narbonne.
By airplane: The next airports are Perpignan, Gerona, Carcassonne,
Montpellier and Toulouse. You will find a large selection of car
rentals.
